2013 Race MD Hotter Than Hell Marathon A Success

New Orleans, LA – July 8, 2013 SVN/Gilmore Auction and Realty is proud to have been a major sponsor of the 2013 Race MD Hotter Than Hell Marathon.

This year’s marathon started at midnight July 7th with more than 160 runners testing their fitness and endurance in the mid-summer New Orleans heat and humidity. The race consists of thirteen laps around the Audubon Park two mile course. The race uses the “honor system” with each runner or walker marking their laps on the big race board.

The Hotter Than Hell has grown from a handful of New Orleans runners in 2002 to one hundred and sixty runners from Louisiana, Texas, Mississippi and Alabama today. The growth and success of the Hotter Than Hell is credited to race organizers and marathon runners, Francis Braud and Randy Thibodaux. This year’s race raised over $11,000 for Race MD. Since 2010, the donations received from the  race have been dedicated to Race MD.

Race MD is 501(c)3 nonprofit formed in 2008 to accelerate the search for immediate therapies that could prolong the life and health of boys with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. It was founded by the parent of Matthew James, a seven-year-old boy with DMD. Matthew was diagnosed with DMD at three years of age. Matthew is the grandson of race organizer and founder, Francis Braud.
